Subject: Attachment Sergeant A. J. Darby, Hong Kong Volunteer Corps to 3rd North Midland Brigade, Royal Field Artillery.
From
The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief,
Northern Command.
To
Sir,
The Secretary,
War Office, London. S.W.
Headquarters,
Northern Command,
York.
28th May, 1909.
I have the honour to submit the enclosed
correspondence respecting the attachment of Sergeant
A. J. Darby, Hong Kong Volunteer Corps, to the 3rd
North Midland Brigade, Royal Field Artillery,
for
training whilst on leave of absence in England.
There would appear to be no regulation governing such a case, but, as I understand it to be the policy of the Army Council to encourage and as- sist the local military forces of Colonies by per-
mitting the attachment of individual Officers and
men to units in England, I submit this proposal for
favourable consideration and recommend that as a
special case the expense incurred by Sergeant Darby attending camp (including pay and allowances) may be
sanctioned.
I have, &c.,
(SGD) C. A. ALTHAM. B. G. for Commanding in C.
Northern Command.
